I'm Suspending My Campaign

No, I haven’t been running for office but I do feel beleaguered lately. The internet and my laptop have been conspiring against me. It takes forever to move from site to site and all I get are messages that I need to update this or that program.

When Blogspot decided to upgrade their program which made things worse on my end, I decided to throw in the towel. Therefore, I’m suspending my campaign to share a little bit of my life and hopefully bring a bit of mirth to my small corner of cyberspace. I’ll be back from time to time, and I’ll be sure to stop by to visit with my blogging buddies occasionally, but my weekly blogs for now are a thing of the past.

All my programs have either upgraded themselves or want me to upgrade my computer to keep up. And from what I can tell, none of the upgrades have been worth the effort. I did upgrade my printer software which I thought might help cure its poor printing quality. Nope. The upgrade took a bite out of my hard drive memory and now I get some fancy pitch to buy more Kodak products. But my printer still doesn’t work worth beans.

Now Facebook wants me to add timeline. Haven’t done it. Heck, I can’t view movies posted there anyway because they say I don’t have the most up-to-date edition of flashplayer. What was wrong with the last one?

Then it kind of irritated me when I got a call from my internet service provider asking me to upgrade to a high speed version of DSL. I thought my DSL WAS high speed. I’m sure it was when I signed up. So now I have to pay $10 more a month for the high speed DSL I originally signed for years ago.

It kind of makes you want to give up on computers and the internet. But I’m more of a boycotting kind of guy. For now I’ll just boycott Blogspot. It’ll give me more time to watch the birds in my feeder and to read Cookie Monster books to my grandson. Cookie Monster books are his favorite; I tried to upload a recent picture of Grant but whether it appears I won’t know until I publish this.

Let's hope.

Sorry the internet is giving you a hard time. Now we probably won't see Grant until he is heading to the University of Michigan.

I saw that FB wanted me to update-I'm ignoring it. I'm thinking I've found a way to get my paragraphs to work here on blogspot, I guess I'll find out tomorrow.

I see you were able to get both paragraphs and a new picture of Grant on here! Kudos!

Yesterday-I loved the old fashioned thing of UPS dropping off my box of Chicken Soup books to my front door. Yes, I was thrilled that I didn't have to do anything harder than pushing over my threshold and wait for my husband to get home, cut it open and look at my section of the book!

books and newspapers may be "trite" but they'll always be #1 in my life.

CAROLDEE--I still check occasionally to see if Trucker Bob is back.

What's with these record-breaking temperatures? It's going to be hard to plant a garden with frost and 85=degree temperatures the same week.

JAN--They do grow up quickly; we're find that out. But please not too quickly; I'll be 75 when he hits 18!

CARINE--I had to upload the picture on my computer at work, something I don't like to do. And why is that end of my first paragraph centered?

Congrats on getting published in Chicken Soup for the Soul. Now two of my blogging buddies have been published there.

Finally, you got it through your noggin;
Life goes on splendidly without the bloggin'.

Though this news will make your fans irate,
You'll have more time for that cute pirate.

What else can I say? How can I hearten?
Please don't forget your devoted SPARTAN!

Dave, I did indeed, "lock the door." I posted a note to let me know email addys, and I'd happily add yours. I looked and couldn't find your addy here at your blog or in my address book. If you will send it to me at heartofnm@yahoo.com, I will unlock the door for you! Sorry to hear you're slowing down on the blog, but I understand!

BONNIE--And happy Mother's Day to the mom with the most (kids of anyone I know). I always appreciate your poetry here too, thanks.

Somebody sent me an e-mail with a bunch of photos showing how those engaged in yoga as well as those engaged in heavy drinking end up in remarkably similar poses. But I figure you being a Spartan, you probably already knew that.

LYNILU--My e-mail addy isn't here? I swore it was; must have been another casualty of the upgrade. I'll have to send it to you.

Hi Dave ~~ Enjoy your break and come back to us all refreshed and ready to go again soon. I will miss your posts Dave, but you have a life outside blogging with that cute little Grant, who
now likes you. You had a shaky start with him, didn't you?
I had a great week with Peter but as he hadn't seen me for a year, he got a shock and kept waiting for me to fall. I have been
like this for months, he just didn't see me and all the updates were from John letting him know how I was.He went down to Geelong to see his son and family and he and his daughter Vicki are coming back on Tuesday for my 78th B'day on Thursday. Take great care my friend, Cheers, Merle.

Hi Dave ~~Sorry you are having Computer and/or Internet problems and hope you get it all sorted soon. I had a great week with Peter who hadn't seen me for a year and he got quite a shock as to how I looked and walked. I have been this way for months, he just hadn't seen me. He did the hospital updates from what John told him.
He went to spend time with his son Marcus, and his daughter Vicki. They are coming up for my birthday on Thursday. My 78th Nd 4 days later Peter will turn 76 so old age sure caught up with us in a hurry.
Take great care my friend and enjoy you break. Cheers, Merle.

Hi Dave ~~ So you have got too busy living life, which is more important than blogging and computers when they are playing up. I hope you will come back soon when you get things sorted out.
Sorry I miss your birthday and I hope it was a good one.
I turned 78 which is darn close to 80 which is scary.
I have enjoyed Peter's visit this year, as I thought I might not See him again, so he made up for that thought. Take care Dave and enjoy your life, but don't forget us. Cheers, Merle.

Hi Dave ~~ Thanks for the comments. I enjoyed my birthday and having so many visitors around - it was all wonderful. Your Dad is doing well at 82. Glad you enjoyed the jokes and glad your economy is doing better. Let's hope it will continue.
Unfortunately the calendar I posted is incorrect, so it is not right at all. 1st July is a Sunday, not Friday. Take care, my friend, Cheers, Merle.

Hi Dave ~~ See, you are being missed already. I seem to be getting on better with the new version at last. Glad you enjoyed the joke about the Retiree. An island would be nice to live on in
peace.
I like bananas too, but they didn't get a mention in the healthy foods. Oh well, keep on eating them.
I see it is getting a bit too warm over there. I don't like over 90 degrees.
I hope all is well with you, and I am doing really well. Cheers, Merle.

Hi again Dave ~~ I see you are still having computer problems and restoring your home computer to perform better.
I think your wife made up that word. I love Maple Syrup and have even slurped it, but surple???
My weight was in Kilos, sorry about leaving that out. I am about 50 kgs which is about 110 pounds.
But am feeling great and life is good. Take care my friend, Cheers, Merle.

Hi Dave ~~ You had better put another post on, no matter how small, as I have far too many replies on here.
I do hope the malaware program didn't kill your Computer. I have Vista too.
I hope it has cooled down some for you. Sorry about that cat game not working. And also Maukie disappearing
Mine is still there so if you click on it you can probably get Maukie back.
Take great care, Cheers, Merle.

Hi Dave ~~ I am sorry the heat has been so bad and drought conditions a result,
Be glad your little grandson says 'watie' for a drink of water. He will want lots more expensive things when he gets a bigger vocabulary. Take care my friend, and keep cool. Cheers, Merle.
